Mammillaria chionocephala is native to Mexico, and has a distinctive appearance with its white wool that wraps the upper part of the plant, leaving just the tips of the tubercles exposed. The wool begins to grow once the plant reaches flowering age. This beautiful cactus also features white to bright pink flowers in the spring, and bears carmine red fruit!
Mammillaria Chionocephala makes a unique and easy-to-cultivate species. One thing to note as the cacti grows (over the course of about 12-15 years), it may begin to form colonies, and may need to be repotted several times as it overtakes its current confines.
Individual plants have their natural differences, but the specimens that are considered the best have abundent white wool!
